Q: What is your minimum order for custom lithographed tins?
A: 25,000 for custom decorated tins. Lower minimums are given for some designs .

Q: Where are your cans manufactured?
A: Rockford IL and Lancaster PA

Q: What are your lead times?
A: 10-12 weeks from the time artwork (camera ready/digital) is received.

Q: Can you design a package to fit my needs?
A: J.L.Clark has an in-house Research and Development Department that has the latest technology in designing any custom packaging to fulfill your needs. See the Product Development section of the Website.

Q: Do you do your own lithography?
A: Yes. We have state-of-the-art equipment for metal lithography. See Lithography section of Website.

Q: How many prints can I put down on a tin?
A: Numerous, depending on our fabrication thickness limitations. The maximum amount to date is fourteen.

Q: Do you produce food grade cans?
A: Yes, all of our inks, varnishes and coatings are all food grade quality. The interior has a special food grade safe coating.

Q: Do your food grade cans have welded side seams, and doubled seamed tops and bottoms?
A: No, however we do have two types of seams, false and double seams. A double seam is a food grade seam without compounding. A false seam is a non-clinched double seam. And the type of seam used is selected depending on the final application of the can.

Q: Can I direct fill into the tin?
A: Yes. J.L.Clark can direct fill into a tin depending upon what type of product it is. Go to the contacts section of the Website and talk to your sales representative to confirm.

Q: Do you have liners/dividers for your tins?
A: No, we do not stock liners/dividers but our Purchasing Department regularly sources accessory components.

Q: Do you carry stock cans?
A: No.

A: Tooling ranges in price and is quoted per requirements.

Q:How do you measure a tin?
What does 603 x 802 x 204 mean? What size is this?

A: 603 = 6 inches and 3 sixteenths of an inch or 6 3/16"
802 = 8 inches and 2 sixteenths of an inch or 8 1/8"
201 = 2 inches and 1 sixteenth of an inch or 2 1/16"
Length: 603 = 6 3/16 in.
Width: 802 = 8 1/8 in.
Height: 201 = 2 1/16 in.

Q: How much does Art Service cost?
A: Art service costs vary per job. These costs include color separations, proofs and plates.

Q: What is the preferred file format to send artwork in as?
A: Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop

Q: Is our pre-press cost included in the price of the can?
A: No, pre-press application such as plates, color separation and proofs are one time charges, which are not included in the price estimate. How many cans are on a skid? Depends on the size of the can and how the product is specified to be packed.

Q: What proofing method is used? paper or metal proof?
A: Kodak Color Proof (Digital on paper) or we can provide a metal proof.

Q: How many cans fit on a truck and what will the weight be?
A: Depends on the size of the can and how the product is specified to be packed.

Q: Do you make other items besides tins?
A: Yes. We manufacture innovative packaging solutions to meet your needs, utilizing a "material indifferent" approach. Material indifference is our core competence. We can manufacture a package metal, plastic or a combination of both. Whatever it takes to meet your needs.

Q: What are the lead times?
A: If product is available from stock we can ship in 2 to 3 days. If liner is needed add 7 to 10 days. If product requires production, lead time is 2 to 4 weeks. If liner is needed lead time is 4 to 6 weeks.

Q: What are the minimums on custom colors?
A: Custom color minimum is 250,000. If your needs are less we can run your order and bill for remaining colorant.

Q: What liners are compatible with what bottles?
A: All our liners are for Heat Induction application. We do not carry Pressure Sensitive.
FS 3-19 is used with PE and PP
FS 1-13 is used with PE and PP
IS-CT-U5 is used with Polyester and PVC
Polysan is all purpose for use with Mayonaisse/Salad Dressing
