Down-Weighting makes more dollars and sense!
If metal is inherently good for the environment, then metal containers that are lighter (down-weighted, or down-gauged) are even better. J.L. Clark is increasingly designing and manufacturing structures that are considerably lighter than the same structure might have been several years ago. These structures can be designed in such a way that thinner gauge metal can be used with no impact on the container's strength or functionality. Ultimately, a lighter metal container creates a sustainability 'domino effect' throughout the supply chain. It requires less raw material and, as a result, less energy consumption for production. Most importantly, shipment weight overall can be significantly reduced, ultimately decreasing fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and cost.
