Clean and Green: J.L. Clark wins KNIB Earth Day Award
J.L. Clark was presented with the "Outstanding Corporate Friend of the Environment Award" at the Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful's (KNIB) recent Earth Day Awards ceremony, adding to an impressive array of recent local, regional and national awards the company has received for its sustainable products and practices. The KNIB award cited a number of important J.L. Clark initiatives, including: 
- The recycling of 100% of the plastic and metal waste from the company's manufacturing processes.
- Upgraded lighting, resulting in a carbon footprint reduction of more than 84,000 kW hours a year – the equivaleant of saving 80 acres of forest or removing 51 cars from the streets annually.
- Changes in shipping procedures and packaging operations that that greatly reduced greenhouse gas emissions; new manufacturing processes that reduced water use by more than 8.1 million gallons per year; with 95% of water used for steel-making being recycled.
