Aluminum Containers

PROJECT OVERVIEW

J.L. Clark has launched a new line of aluminum containers, ideal for a wide range of water-based consumer health and beauty products. Highly decorative steel packaging, while very desirable for many water-based products such as those used for hair care, often requires a thermoformed cup or other barrier to protect the steel from corrosion. But with our new aluminum containers, these same products can be packaged in the same fashion, with beautiful lithography, but without the cost or secondary operations required to protect against corrosion. Additionally, aluminum is among the most 'sustainable' materials available for packaging, since it’s as easily recyclable as your average soda can.

Tooling for the first five aluminum structures, all with different design features and/or dimensions, has already been developed, making it much simpler, faster and cost-effective for customers to begin benefiting from aluminum packaging. Each of the five aluminum containers feature unique size and characteristics to meet a wide range of applications. All can be decorated with J.L. Clark's award-winning lithography capabilities.

Band-Aid® Brand Collector's Series Tin

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Each year metal decorators from around the world compete in the International Metal Decorators Association's prestigious "Excellence in Quality" Competition. The 2011 J.L. Clark entry again won a best of category award – this time for a Band-Aid® Brand Collector's Series tin that showcases many of J.L. Clark's impressive in-house metal lithography and fabrication capabilities.

The project called for seven-color lithography, with two different varnish passes. But perhaps most impressive was the exceptional depth and sharpness of the embossed Mickey Mouse on the front and back panels, combined with phenomenal color registration. It's one of the most visually striking tins you'll ever see.

Pine Bros. Brand Re-Launch

Remember those mouth-watering, chewy Pine Bros. cough drops that soothed your throat when you were a kid? Now they're back, this time with packaging from J.L. Clark. We started with the round, pocket-sized, easy-to-hold shape of Ice Breakers, one of the most popular and successful mint candies ever launched. But that was only the beginning...

J.L. Clark began with conceptual work that quickly moved from simple sketches to more detailed drawings done with the latest 3D modeling software. A variety of dispensing options were explored along the way, everything from lids that slid open, popped up and, ultimately, one that twisted off completely. We then used our on-site rapid prototyping equipment to produce and test physical models – and a breakthrough plastic container soon emerged.

Signature Brands Popcorn Tins

Signature Brands ramps up every year to stock the shelves at Walmart, Staples and other major retail outlets with their hot-selling, highly collectable NFL and holiday popcorn tins – all with the help of J.L. Clark's custom flat sheet printing capability.

Spice Containers

PROJECT OVERVIEW

For almost 50 years now, we've been at the heart of virtually every new spice container innovation. We've helped make them lighter, safer, and easier to pour and store. Increasingly, spice companies have turned to J.L. Clark to find new ways to make it easier for the consumer to both dispense product, and keep the contents fresh and safe from contamination.

J.L. CLARK CAPABILITIES

We started with the iconic 'plug' or dredge top common in the 1960s. We then introduced a red wheel top that simplified the opening and closing process. This was followed by a plastic twin-top closure that made it easier for the user to modulate pouring. Another breakthrough was the first 'sift and pour' cans for McCormick. Today, our patented triple-top, tamper-evidency containers are the industry standard, allowing the consumer to easily select any of three pouring alternatives, as well as protecting against tampering prior to purchase.

Plastic Hinge Ring Closure

Clark capability that delivers some of the most innovative and contemporary packaging solutions to help build brands through intriguing, irresistible consumer appeal. For example, the plastic-ring hinge closure from J.L. Clark enables customers to take advantage of all the benefits of J.L. Clark's highly decorative, durable metal containers, while at the same time reducing the cost of integrating a tightly secure closure device into the container.

The ring-type closure features tabs on the lid and container ring that are easy to lock securely together, stay locked through repeated handling, and then can be easily unlocked when needed. Among the recent applications is Groupe Marcelle's 'Canyon' and 'Amazon' wet and dry eye shadow products, and Kerr Dental's new OptiDisc™ Finishing and Polishing Disc Set, used by dentists to achieve a higher surface gloss on teeth.

Plastic Tooling

J.L. Clark has launched a new line of plastic containers designed to greatly reduce both the lead times and tooling costs generally associated with the development of new plastic packaging. Injection mold tooling for the first four plastic structures, all with distinctly different and highly desirable design features, has already been developed, making it much simpler, faster and cost-effective for customers to begin benefiting from plastic packaging.

Each of the four plastic containers features a unique shape and closure design to meet a wide range of applications, and each can be produced in any color. J.L. Clark also makes available a variety of post-mold operations as well, including decorating with custom labeling, door closing, even filling.
